LADYZEE BANKHEAD

I had the pleasure to interview LadyZee Bankhead again, and the first question I asked was about her happenstance with the Great Shirley Caesar and The Lady stated, I have been both moved by the spirit and changed by the power of God through the singing of Pastor Shirley Caesar.

 

Since I was a child I have been listening to Pastor Shirley Caesar. I've met Pastor Shirley Caesar on a number of occasions and she has gone through many of my trials with me, for instance surviving five motor vehicle accidents by way of her stirring life changing songs. Some in particularly, “Born Again, Sailing on the Sea of Your Love, Jesus, I Love Calling Your Name, Slow Down, Pressing My Way, I Find No Fault, Nobody But Jesus, I Cannot Stop Praising Him, He’ll Do It Again, You Changed Me, God Is Not Dead, You Are All I Need, and Send Your Word.”

 

As LadyZee meticulously and randomly lists the names of Pastor Shirley Caesar’s songs she began to smile as if by the mere mention of the Pastor’s songs gave her joy. I asked The Lady why she mentioned Pastor Shirley Caesar older songs and she stated that when she left home and went away to university her Mother gave her those songs on LP records along with a record player so that she would not forget God and His power. Her Mother reminded her that God’s power was the only power that will keep her. The Lady stated that Jesus never left her and He abides in her and with her today.

 

What was it like meeting Pastor Shirley Caesar I asked The Lady. She smiled and stated that the Pastor was hungry and eating greens, cornbread and sweet potato pie but did not hesitate to converse with me. The conversation was uplifting and fluid. Pastor Caesar asked if I wanted to be one of her background vocals and as much as I was honored to be asked I had to decline due to I was in the last year of obtaining my PhD. Subsequently, Pastor Caesar has not changed since our first meeting which was about ten years ago. She was gracious, polite, very easy to converse with, and always wore a beautiful smile.

 

I asked The Lady, what is going on with the release of her new CD “Relationship, Worship and Praise” and The Lady politely smiled and said that the obstructions consist of distributional issues, managerial issues, agent/PR differences, and concert scheduling conflicts. However, the CD is done it is just a matter of resolving the other issues. In everything gives thanks and that is the code I live by.  If the LORD is willing hopefully in April or May 2017 one of my new CDs will be out. The Lady stated that she host a gospel show and is finishing up the sound track from The West Michigan has Gospel Too Show and this sound track is also scheduled to be released in April 2017.

 

The Lady is currently touring and will be in Chicago, New Jersey, Virginia, Texas, Nashville, Ontario, and Washington, DC in 2017 and hopefully I will see her at one or more of her dynamic concerts. The Lady truly comes alive on stage and all of her fans are in for a life changing experience.
